Garage rock show at the Van Nuys Elk's Lodge featuring
13 bands. Mark's teenage band, Mark & the Escorts
(1963-66), reunited for the show. Mark & the Escorts
original member Rick Rosas, now Neil Young's bass player,
performed with the band, as well as original members Mark
Guerrero, Ernie Hernandez, Robert Warren, and Trini Basulto.
John Valenzuela sat in on keyboard. Valenzuela was a
member of Mark's 70s band, Tango. Thee Ambertones, another
East L.A. band of the 60s, reunited for the show. (2009)

for an event celebrating the new edition of the book "Land
of a Thousand Dances" by David Reyes and Tom Waldman.
Performing in Tango were original members Mark Guerrero, John

able to perform because he was on the road with Neil Young.
In his place on bass was Leo Valenzuela, younger brother of
original member John. Sitting in on keyboard was Alex
Del Zoppo, a member of Sweetwater who played at Woodstock

400,000 California citizens and residents of Mexican decent who
were forced out of California between 1929 and 1944. The
songs Mark sang were related to the theme and that time period,
including "This Land Is Your Land" and "Deportees" by Woody
Guthrie, songs by Lalo Guerrero, and some Mark Guerrero songs
about immigration and his song about Chicano pride and equality,

Mark performed Lalo Guerrero's "Los Chucos Suaves" backed by
Tierra and was also a talent coordinator and helped sync in the
final audio mix with the video. The DVD was of a

country which also featured Trini Lopez, El Chicano, Tierra,
Little Willie G & the Midniters, and the Gregg Rolie Band.
It was taped at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles in 2008.

Baby" by Mark & the Escorts recorded in March of 1965 and
released on GNP Crescendo Records appears in major motion
picture directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Channing
Tatum, Daniel Craig, Katie Holmes, and Hillary Swank. The song was an instrumental
written by Thomas and Edwards of The Mixtures of Ventura.
Mark Guerrero played lead guitar. Other band members on

The National Association of Chicana and Chicano Studies held

Mark Guerrero's radio show, which originally aired on crnlive.com,
starting in November of 2005. The show features the
music of Chicano, East L.A., and Chicano/Latino- related
music pioneers and legends, with in studio interviews with
the artists. Mark did 12 in the initial
run. In 2015, the show resumed with new shows.
Guests have included Trini Lopez, Louie
Perez of Los Lobos, Lonnie Jordan of War, Pat Vegas of
Redbone, Chris Montez, El
Chicano, and many others. As of 2018, the show is a
